Conventional component assembly includes the use of hand soldering irons and/or wave soldering machines which ever is appropriate. PCB assemblies often require a mixed technology of surface mount components and conventional (through hole) assembly.

The production area is divided into unleaded and leaded assemblies. Soldering irons are colour coded (green for lead free/ red for leaded components). Almec has two wave soldering machines to cater for leaded and lead free assemblies. The twin machines are colour coded in a similar manner to the soldering irons.
