The Projectile Velocity Measurement Unit (PVMU) was originally developed for use with the drop tube testing of police body armour. The system measures the time interval of an object free falling between two fixed points. The design ensures that traditional problems such as target bounce and false readings are eliminated and works with target items as small as 1mm.
The unit is built from Aluminium alloy giving a robust yet lightweight construction. Six M8 fixing points are provided for wall or rack mouting. Operation is simple using the front control panel.
An optional hand held remote display unit is available (ALM3903, see illustration) and features a four digit display giving a range of 0.01ms to 99.99ms. This plugs into the din socket on the front panel. The unit can be attached to the PVMU frame when not in use, as shown in the lower image.
